Dorrie Williams, RN, Named Supervisor of McLeod Dillon Cardiac Rehabilitation

McLEOD DILLION 21 JULY 2011

(7/21/11) –
McLeod Medical Center Dillon is pleased to announce that Dorrie Williams, RN, has been named Supervisor of Cardiac Rehabilitation.

"The Cardiac Rehabilitation program offered at McLeod Dillon is excellent; it has been well established for over twenty years. Heart Disease affects so many people in our community; it is part of our lives. My hope is that we can teach people who are affected by Heart Disease that they can live a healthy, long life if they make healthy lifestyle changes now," said Dorrie. "Most importantly, our program shows that exercise can be enjoyable. We have a great group of people who exercise with us, many continue in the program long after their heart event. They offer support to new patients by encouraging them."

In her new role, Dorrie will oversee the day to day operations of the department. She will be the first point of contact with patients entering the program and will be their nurse partner through their journey to recovery. "The work I do each day is so rewarding," said Dorrie.

Dorrie has worked at McLeod Dillon since 2001. "McLeod Dillon is like home to me, it’s my second family. The close knit relationships found here are unique to small hospital settings."

Dorrie started her career at McLeod Dillon on the Medical Surgical Unit as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). In 2004, she obtained her Associate’s Degree in Nursing and went to work in the Emergency Department. She has worked in Cardiac Rehabilitation since 2008.

When asked her reason for choosing nursing as a career, Dorrie said, "That’s easy, my mom is a nurse. As a child I watched her care for my grandparents when they were sick, or anyone for that matter."

Dorrie is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Dorrie is a native of Lumberton, NC. She and her husband Alan currently resident in Dillon, SC. They have two sons, Ty (age 6) and Brantley (age 17 months). Dorrie enjoys family time when she is not at work.
