(5/04/11) – McLeod Physician Associates is pleased to announce the association of Andrea Salley, NP-C, at McLeod OB/GYN Dillon and McLeod Pediatrics Dillon – Dr. Danté Lewis.

Andrea received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Clemson University, Clemson, SC, in 2005. She received her Master of Nursing Degree in 2009 from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA.

Andrea is nationally certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in the area of family practice.

A Nurse Practitioner is a master’s prepared registered nurse who has completed specific advanced education and training in the diagnosis and management of medical conditions. Nurse Practitioners practice clinically and diagnose, treat, evaluate and manage short-term and long-term illnesses and diseases.

Andrea is looking forward to serving Dillon County and the surrounding areas. Inspired to pursue a career in nursing after caring for a close family member, Andrea discovered her passion for nursing at an early age.

"I became a Nurse Practitioner because I like being able to make a difference in the lives of others," said Andrea. "I enjoy educating patients, developing a treatment plan with them, and then watching them feel better and grow happier with their overall health. It’s a rewarding job every day. I hope to become my patients’ advocate and aid them in any way that I can to help them live healthy lives."

Andrea’s first OB/GYN experience was in Cusco, Peru. "Providing care in a third world country truly made me appreciate the health care we are fortunate to have in the United States."

Andrea chose Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology because of her love for children. "I enjoy watching them grow and helping them grow in healthy ways. In this profession, there are so many ways to positively affect someone’s life," said Andrea. "I like promoting good health throughout the lifespan. Treating women and children gives me the opportunity to teach healthy lifestyles while making health maintenance recommendations to both the parents and to their children. It is fascinating to see how much one influences the other."

Andrea added, "I chose to work in Dillon because I prefer working in smaller towns." Andrea chose McLeod because of its continuous pursuit for quality and growth. "I have always heard great things about McLeod. I decided a while back that I wanted to become part of an ambitious team."

Andrea is a member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
