An Evening of Hope to benefit the HOPE (Helping Oncology Patients Everyday) Fund at the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research in Florence was held on Thursday, September 18, at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center.
The 26th annual cancer benefit began with a strolling dinner and silent auction followed by inspirational video testimonials featuring McLeod Cancer Survivors Kim Brown, Alan Cox, Wardie Sanders and Lanell Timmons. Entertainment was provided by the Masterworks Choir with a celebrity guest conducting performance by McLeod Radiation Oncologist Dr. Virginia Clyburn-Ipock. HOPE Coordinator Sarah Beth Averette and Will McLeod, CEO of McLeod Regional Medical Center also offered remarks on how the HOPE Fund and this event touches the lives of so many cancer patients and families throughout the region.
Proceeds from the event benefit oncology patient support services and provide oncology staff with improved access for immediate assistance needs for McLeod cancer patients. Since its establishment in 2014, the HOPE Fund has helped more than 15,000 patients with such needs as transportation, medications, nutrition and unique personal financial challenges.
