McLeod Regional Medical Center named Alvin Leach as the Volunteer of the Year for 2025 during the Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held at the Hellenic Center on January 22, 2026.
Leach is the 38th recipient of the McLeod Volunteer of the Year award. He volunteers his time and care to McLeod cardiac patients.
In presenting the award to Leach, Linda Boone, Director of Volunteer Services for McLeod, shared, “Alvin has faithfully served our organization for many years and continues to visit regularly. This past year, I received a meaningful call from a patient who wanted to personally express how much Alvin’s visit meant to him during an especially frightening medical procedure at McLeod. The patient was alone, without family support, and shared that the Alvin’s patience, kindness, and presence brought him great comfort during that difficult time. He specifically requested that Alvin be recognized with an award for the compassion shown to him.
“Alvin has devoted much of his life to serving others, and for the past eight years, McLeod has been fortunate to benefit from that dedication. He has contributed nearly 1,000 hours of service and his commitment and selflessness have made a lasting impact on the patients and staff he serves,” added Boone.
In addition to the Volunteer of the Year announcement, Myra Bennett was recognized with the Most Clinical Hours* in 2025 with 517 and Susan Jernigan was honored for the Most Crafting Hours with 2,689 hours.
Nearly 230 volunteers who contribute outstanding service to McLeod Regional Medical Center were honored for their service during 2025. These dedicated individuals contributed 41,537 volunteer hours to the hospital over the past year.
