McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 8 MAY 2025

McLeod Regional Medical Center (MRMC) is pleased to announce the 2025 Nurse of the Year Award recipients: Bradley Tyner, CRNA; Trena Addison, RN; and Linda McDaniel, MST. The winners were recognized during a special ceremony and McLeod celebration in conjunction with National Nurses Week.

“Being selected as a Nurse of the Year is a very honorable recognition,” said Tony Derrick, Chief Nursing Officer for McLeod Regional Medical Center. “We appreciate our nurses every day, but Nurses Week is a time we honor our nurses for providing quality care to our patients. The Mission of McLeod Health is to improve the overall health and well-being of the people living within South Carolina and eastern North Carolina by providing excellence in health care, and our nurses are an instrumental part of that goal.”

Bradley Tyner, CRNA, Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year, is a Nurse Anesthetist with the Heart & Vascular Day Hospital/Recovery Room.

“Bradley’s patients frequently request him upon waking from a procedure, remembering the outstanding care they received,” says Kim Medlin, Nursing Director of the Heart & Vascular Day Hospital/Recovery Room. “His dedication to going above and beyond is clear to all who work with him. Bradley makes a point of getting to know his patients before surgery, helping to easy their anxiety during what can be a frightening time. He approaches his responsibilities with precision, determination and a keen attention to detail.”

Trena Addison, RN, Registered Nurse of the Year, works with Share the Care.

“Trena brings a wealth of experience and dedication to nursing at McLeod Regional Medical Center,” says Angela Putnam, Manager of Nursing Support Services. “Her contributions are invaluable, and she is a constant anchor for her department. Her strength is matched with her compassion and kindness, making Trena a model of nursing excellence. Trena establishes genuine connections with her patients and goes above and beyond to ensure her patients feel safe, comfortable and respected.”

Linda McDaniel, MST, Nursing Technician of the Year, is a Medical Surgical Technician (MST) with the Progressive Transitional Care Unit (PTCU).

“Linda is more than a tech – she is a pillar for our unit,” says Heather Dowdy, Nursing Director for the PTCU. “She has dedicated nearly three decades of exceptional service to McLeod, and her compassionate, high-quality care truly sets her apart. Linda sees the person behind the patient. She never rushes her care; instead, she takes time to learn each patient’s preference and needs, tailoring her approach to treat them as unique individuals. Her patience and kindness leave lasting impressions on those she serves.”

“A McLeod Nurse does not do what they do for the recognition; they do it for the patients,” said Derrick. “Every day, I am in awe of what our nurses can accomplish. Our outcomes prove what excellent care our patients receive. As the Chief Nursing Officer, I am so impressed with their quality work and daily dedication. I believe we have some of the best nurses in the world here at McLeod.”
