The McLeod Heart and Vascular Institute offers a rich history of development and growth in cardiac care for patients in Northeastern South Carolina and Southeastern North Carolina. Since the early 1950's, McLeod has provided access to the most sophisticated cardiac services. We responded to the need for quality cardiac care with the region's first open heart surgery performed by a McLeod Cardiothoracic Surgeon, the region's first cardiac catheterization laboratory and Coronary Care Unit for the care of severe heart attack patients.
