The Mission of the McLeod Regional Medical Center Dietetic Internship Program is to provide an accessible, clinical, and community-centered program where our graduates will practice evidence-based standards while caring for patients with complex nutritional needs, particularly in rural or underserved regions. Once graduated from our program, our graduates will be deemed entry-level.
The Mission of McLeod Health is to improve the overall health and well-being of people living within South Carolina and eastern North Carolina by providing excellence in health care. The values of McLeod Health include but are not limited to the value of caring, the value of the person, the value of quality and the value of integrity. Dietetic Interns are expected to uphold every aspect of these values.
Graduates will be entry-level practitioners who utilize evidence-based guidelines in dietetics practice.
ACEND Objective: Program Completion: “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 12 months (150% of planned program length).”
ACEND Objective: Graduate Employment: “Of graduates who seek employment, at least 70% are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation.”
ACEND Objective: Graduate Performance on Registration Exam: “The program’s one-year pass (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%.”
ACEND Objective: Graduate Performance on Registration Exam: “At least 70% of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion.”
McLeod Objective: Employer Satisfaction: At least 75% of employers who respond to a survey (outside of McLeod Regional Medical Center) will agree or strongly agree that the program graduates are competent, entry-level practitioners who use evidence-based care.
Graduates will be able to understand the complexities of nutritional care associated with rural regions and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills to support these unique challenges.
McLeod Objective: At least 70% of graduates who respond to our program’s survey will agree or strongly agree that the program prepared them to think critically and use evidence-based guidelines in practice.
McLeod Objective: At least 70% of graduates who respond to a survey will agree or strongly agree that they were adequately prepared to care for individuals with complex nutritional needs in various care settings.
McLeod Objective: At least 70% of graduates who respond to a survey will agree or strongly agree that they were sufficiently prepared to address rural healthcare nutritional concerns.
