Our curriculum prepares you for many options – primary care, hospital medicine, and subspecialty fields. You’ll find a breadth of hands-on practical situations integrated with classroom and training experience, guided by seasoned professionals.
The Internal Medicine rotation curriculum is set up on a 6+2 schedule.
Residents will typically spend 4 weeks on an essential service (Example: Inpatient Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Unit, Night Float), two weeks on a selective/elective (Ex. Pulmonary Medicine), and two weeks in the outpatient Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic during each 8-week block.

Monday Conference 12-1 pm: Rotating conference including subspecialty topics, IM Program Director monthly updates, Morbidity, Mortality and Improvement (MMI), Journal Club, Business of Medicine Series, and Intern Core Lectures.
Tuesday 12-12:30 pm (July-Feb): 30-minute PGY-1 only case-based discussion of common inpatient topics (Ex. A fib, COPD exacerbation, Approach to chest pain)
Tuesday 12:30-1 pm: Program and Associate Program Director led interactive conference including clinical cases, guideline updates, as well as wellness and leadership topics.
Wednesday 2-5 pm: Academic half-day covering common inpatient and outpatient internal medicine topics. The 2-4 PM time slot is dedicated to the Internal Medicine core curriculum. The 4-5 pm time slot is dedicated to board review and visual learning (EKG, CXR, Dermatology, Physical Exam findings). All conferences are interactive using quizzing software. Residents are free of all clinical duties during the academic half-day.
Thursday and Friday, 12:30-1 pm: Team-based case conference discussing common and uncommon cases from the Inpatient Internal Medicine Service.
Friday 12-1 pm (Every 4th Friday): Grand Rounds with internal and external speakers.
Didactic Curriculum
Simulation and Point-Of-Care ultrasound training (POCUS) on Tuesday afternoon from 3-5 pm.
Administrative time on Friday afternoons for note completion, PEAC modules, research, and quality improvement projects.
Weekly clinic schedule will consist of six half-days of continuity clinic. The continuity clinic will include your patients whom you will follow longitudinally over your three years of training.
Weekly clinic will consist of one half-day of subspecialty training (Example: Cardiology, Orthopedics, Dermatology)
