McLeod Occupational Health and McAngus, Goudelock, & Courie Law Firm (MGC) hosted the 12th Annual Workers’ Compensation Seminar on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the McLeod Medical Plaza Conference Center in Florence (800 East Cheves Street).

This free seminar included the following topics: Overview of the South Carolina Worker’s Compensation System; A Physician’s Perspective: Concept of Injury and the Role of Occupational Health, An Update from the Commission; A New Drug Testing Dilemma in the Workplace; Benefits of On-Site Health Centers; A Mock Worker’s Compensation Hearing; Shoulder Injuries, Knee Injuries, and Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.

Special presenters included Marie Saleeby, Senior Vice President/Administrator of McLeod Regional Medical Center; Walt Barefoot, Attorney of MGC; J. Brandon Hylton, Attorney of MGC; Aisha Taylor, SC Workers’ Compensation Commission; Cary Ashworth, Vice President of Human Resources at ACS Technologies; Valarian Bruce, MD, McLeod Occupational Health; and Thomas V. DiStefano, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon at McLeod Orthopaedics Cheraw.

The purpose of the annual seminar is to educate and inform business leaders and Occupational Health partners about the latest trends in worker’s compensation injury management and legislation.
