McLeod Health welcomes Basil Shah, MD, to the Interventional Neuroradiology team of McLeod Regional Medical Center. Dr. Shah is a highly skilled Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiologist who performs the minimally invasive Thrombectomy procedure to treat Ischemic Strokes, the most common type of stroke. The region’s leader in advanced and emergent stroke care, the McLeod Stroke and Neurosciences team performs the latest life-saving procedures in our dedicated Neurointerventional Bi-Plane X-ray Suite.
Dr. Shah has diverse expertise in radiology, neuroradiology, and interventional neuroradiology with more than 38 years of neuroradiology experience and 20 years of academic experience. Board Certified in Radiology, Dr. Shah received his medical degree from Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, Pakistan. He completed his Anesthesiology & Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran, and Fellowship training in Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiology at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
