McLeod Health Recognizes SIDS Awareness Month

In recognition of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month, McLeod Health encourages all parents and caregivers to always place babies in a safe sleep environment.

In this video, McLeod Neonatologist Dr. Doug Moeckel explains the ABC’s of Safe Sleep.

When putting an infant to sleep, make sure they are:

  • Alone. Not with you in bed or in a chair.
  • On their Back. Always place your baby on their back when sleeping.
  • In a Crib. Not in a car seat or on the couch. Remove all loose bedding, blankets, bumper pads, and stuffed animals.

As a Gold Safe Sleep Champion, McLeod Regional Medical Center demonstrates its commitment to reducing infant sleep-related deaths by promoting safe sleep practices and education on infant sleep safety. This is the highest designation of the Cribs for Kids® National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program.
