McLeod Health embraces a philosophy of visitation that welcomes and encourages the involvement of family and friends in patient care. McLeod strives to provide a caring, therapeutic environment conducive to improving patients' conditions, while recognizing the importance of visitation to the patient, family and friends.

Hospitalization is a time of medical treatment and recovery, nurtured by quiet surroundings and rest. Therefore, it is the policy of McLeod Health that all visitors must be here to visit a specific patient(s), and it is the intent of McLeod Health not to allow unauthorized visitors access to patient care units.

McLeod Health will not restrict, limit, or otherwise deny visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability and will ensure that all visitors enjoy full and equal visitation privileges consistent with patient preferences.

Each patient (or support person, where appropriate) will be informed of his or her visitation rights, including any clinical restriction or limitation on such rights when he or she is informed of his or her other rights at registration.

Each patient (or support person, where appropriate) will be informed of the right subject to his or her consent, to receive whom she or he designates, including, but not limited to, a spouse, a domestic partner (including a same-sex domestic partner), another family member, or a friend, and his or her right to withdraw or deny such consent at any time.
