Born in Homs, Syria Dr. Zakhour enjoys horseback riding, traveling, and reading as well as cooking. He and his wife, Mona, have three children, Ramzi, Nadine and Christine. He also enjoys gardening. The combination of clinical and surgical care attracted Dr. Zakhour to the field of ophthalmology. Dr. Zakhour endeavors to "improve the quality of life of my patients and the community." A 22-year member of the McLeod medical staff, Dr. Zakhour has a proven passion to cure and to heal as a general ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist. "If I had to start all over again, I would do exactly what I have been doing for the past 22 years." Dr. Zakhour, President of the Stokes Regional Eye Center and the McLeod Ambulatory Surgery Center, speaks on behalf of his colleagues when he comments on the "efficient, ethical nature" of their practice that is supported by a "dedicated staff." His strong belief in the philosophy of the McLeod Ambulatory Surgery Center stems from the "daily attention given to the patient's safety which evolves from our value to always place the patients well being and comfort first." To precisely describe the center, Dr. Zakhour notes, "It simply is not an assembly line surgery center. We are here to educate our patients and can truly improve their lives."
