(6/22/12) - Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children. Home swimming pools are the most common place for a child younger than age 5 to drown. Approximately 400 children age 14 and younger drown each year in pools and spas, and most children were being watched by an adult just before they drowned.

(6/20/12) - Safe Kids Pee Dee/Coastal, led by McLeod Health, will host Kohl's Cares Safe Seats at the Beach on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. This bi-monthly child safety seat check will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Myrtle Beach Kohl's parking lot.

(5/25/12) - Safe Kids Pee Dee/Coastal reminds families to take caution during Bike and Wheeled Sports Safety Month (May) as well as year-round with these safety tips.

It is important to teach children lessons about safety on the roads and to remind ourselves of them as well. It is also crucial to always follow the safety rules and traffic laws in order to remain protected.

Remember that bikes travel with traffic, not against it. Ride on the right-hand side of the road.
