The annual tournament pays tribute to Sylvia Kitchen who served as director of nursing for many years. After years of dedicating her life to helping others and encouraging young adults to pursue the profession of nursing, Sylvia and her family established the scholarship fund prior to Sylvia losing her battle with cancer.
Over the years, the Sylvia Kitchen Memorial Nursing Scholarship Program has helped raise funds to support scholarships for local youth interested in pursuing a career in nursing. A number of past recipients have completed their education and are following their dream of a career in healthcare in the community.
