McLeod Safe Kids Pee Dee/Coastal Provides Safety Tips During Residential Home Safety Month

(10/19/12) - Falls are the leading cause of unintentional injury for all children ages 14 and under. In 2009, more than 45 percent of nonfatal fall-related injuries and 56 percent of fall-related deaths were among children ages four and under.

Young children are still developing mobility and coordination and can be prone to injuries caused by falls. In addition, head injuries are associated with most deaths and severe injuries resulting from falls.

(10/19/12) - Safe Kids Pee Dee/Coastal, led by McLeod Health, will host Kohl's Cares Safe Seats at the Beach on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. This bi-monthly child safety seat check will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Myrtle Beach Kohl's parking lot.

(10/12/12) - Safe Kids Pee Dee/Coastal, led by McLeod Health, will host the upcoming Kohl's Child Safety Seat Check in Florence.

The Third Thursday with Kohl's Child Safety Seat Check will take place Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Florence Kohl's parking lot (3041 W. Radio Drive, Florence). This child safety seat check is held the third Thursday of each month at this same time and location.

(10/10/12) - On October 1, 2012, Janice Norris, LBSW, received the 2012 Pee Dee Perinatal Award during the South Carolina Perinatal Association (SCPA) Business Luncheon, held in Myrtle Beach. Norris is the Social Worker for the McLeod Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Perinatal Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

This award is given annually to a person in each perinatal region throughout South Carolina who exhibits diligence and concern on behalf of mothers and babies.
