McLeod Breast Health Center Becomes First in the Region to Achieve Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The McLeod Breast Health Center is the first in the region to achieve a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have achieved accreditation in all of the College's voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

Country Music Artist Kathy Mattea will headline the 2014 An Evening of Hope to benefit the McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research. The McLeod Health 15th Annual Cancer Benefit will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Florence Little Theatre. Florence's only professional tennis tournament, now in its third year, has a new title sponsor, McLeod Health, and a new name -- the McLeod for Health Florence Open.  The event is set for October 11-19 at the Eddie Floyd Tennis Center.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children. Home swimming pools are the most common place for a child younger than age five to drown. Approximately 400 children age 14 and younger drown each year in pools and spas, and most children were being watched by an adult just before they drowned.
