Each year, these non-profit hospitals treat more than 17 million children afflicted with disease, injuries and birth defects of every kind by providing the finest in medical care, life-saving research and preventative education.


Stroke Survivor Helps Raise Awareness of Signs and Symptoms

(5/31/11) - About 795,000 Americans will suffer a stroke this year, yet most people in the U.S. cannot identify stroke warning signs or risk factors. Many strokes – some studies indicate that up to 80 percent – can be prevented through risk factor management.

There is no doubt that more education about stroke is needed. According to the National Stroke Association, public awareness of stroke warning signs and risk factors has not improved during the past five years.


New Support Group for Patients with Leukemia and Lymphoma

(5/26/11) - A new support group for patients with blood cancers is being offered in Florence. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and McLeod Health will host the first meeting of this monthly support group on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at noon at the McLeod Health & Fitness Center.
