McLeod Sports Medicine Hosts Free Injury Clinics for High School Athletes

(8/31/11) - The Certified Athletic Trainers of McLeod Sports Medicine along with Dr. Brian Blair of McLeod Orthopaedics, Dr. Pat Denton of Pee Dee Orthopaedic Associates and Family Medicine Residents from McLeod Family Medicine Center are hosting free Saturday Injury Clinics for high school athletes.

The Injury Clinics are held every Saturday throughout the Fall 2011 Sports Season from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at McLeod Family Medicine Health & Fitness located at the McLeod Health & Fitness Center, 2437 Willwood Drive in Florence.

The clinic staff of physicians, Certified Athletic Trainers and X-ray technicians will provide a complimentary medical assessment to evaluate the athlete's injury and make sure the injury is properly treated. They will also determine if the injury requires an x-ray, if a referral is needed for physical therapy or if the athlete needs to see an orthopedic surgeon or other specialist. The most common injuries seen include concussions, bruises, ankle sprains, knee and shoulder injuries.
