(3/14/2014)   McLeod Loris Seacoast is pleased to announce that Nancy Barnes, RN, has been named Vice President of Patient Services.

Barnes joined Saint Eugene Medical Center in Dillon in 1985 as an ICU nurse. She later worked in the emergency department and served as House Supervisor before being named Chief Nursing Officer. After becoming part of McLeod Health in 1998, Barnes continued to serve as Chief Nursing Officer for McLeod Dillon, responsible for both nursing and non-nursing clinical departments. Before coming to McLeod Loris Seacoast, she was serving as Associate Vice President for Patient Services. Her duties included overseeing the emergency department and providing administrative support to emergency department physicians, anesthesia, surgical services and all inpatient nursing units.

In her new role as Vice President of Patient Services, Barnes is responsible for overseeing inpatient areas, including the Intensive Care Unit and Women's Services, as well as pharmacy, cardiopulmonary, nutrition and environmental services.

"I am thrilled about the challenges this new position brings. Today's healthcare environment is more challenging and competitive than ever," Barnes said. "My goals include growing our service lines and continuing to increase patient and staff satisfaction. It is my desire to be in the top 10% in the nation, as measured by Healthgrades and other agencies, for patients when choosing a quality healthcare facility."

Barnes earned an Associate Degree in nursing from Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, NC, before attending the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. There, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and went on to receive a Master's Degree in nursing, as well.

Originally from Robeson County, Barnes grew up in Fairmont, N.C. She now lives in North Myrtle Beach. In addition to traveling, reading and enjoying the beach music scene, her favorite past time is enjoying time spent with her two grandsons.
