The Clock Is Ticking

(11/11/11) - The Clock is Ticking. Make the most of this opportunity: consider a tax-free gift from your individual retirement account (IRA) before the policy's expiration date.

Q. Who is eligible?
A. People 701/2 and older may participate. The money must come out of an IRA, and as a gift, must pass directly from the IRA trustee to the recipient charity.

Q. Who can receive rollover gifts?
A. You may make an IRA charitable gift to any eligible charity-including McLeod Health.

Q. How much can I give?
A. You may make an IRA charitable contribution of up to $100,000 per year without incurring any taxes. Your spouse may also make a tax-free rollover gift of up to $100,000 from his or her own IRA. Your gift to McLeod Health can be for any amount.

Q. Can I direct the use of my gift?
A. Absolutely. In fact, McLeod Health Foundation has many important projects and services in need of community support: The One Vision, One Future Campaign for McLeod Health is raising money to add 12 additional patient rooms to the Hospice House, help with the expansion of the Cancer Center, and assisted in funding McLeod Medical Center Dillon's new Emergency Department. There are also pressing needs at the Children's Hospital, the Guest House, Diabetes Services and many more. IRA rollover gifts may also be used to pay existing pledges.

Q. How long do I have to act?
A. This tax-free opportunity ends December 31, 2011, but you'll need to allow enough time to get the paperwork processed by this deadline. Your IRA manager can help you make the most of this special opportunity.

Q. How do I make this gift?
A. Contact your IRA administrator to request gift be made to:
McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee, Inc. Tax ID 57-0370242.
P.O. Box 100551,
Florence, SC 29502-0551
It will be important to notify the McLeod Foundation office to ensure the gift is used to fund the particular program you choose.

For additional information about how you can make your donation or use this option to pay on an existing pledge with the McLeod Foundation, and to notify the office of your gift call the Foundation office at 843-777-2694 and ask for Roxanna Tinsley.
