June is Men's Health Month

(6/25/2013) On average, men die almost six years earlier than women. Women are also more likely than men to visit the doctor for annual examinations and preventive services, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

McLeod Loris Seacoast Conducts Balance Screenings

(6/14/2013) McLeod Loris Seacoast offered free balance screenings and education to the senior community at Saltaire Village in Calabash, NC, on June 12 in an effort to evaluate their fall risk potential and avoid future injuries.

Research shows that each year one in every three adults age 65 and older suffers from a fall. Falls cause moderate to severe injuries, such as hip fractures and head injuries, which increase the risk of early death. However, falls can often be prevented.

Boulineau’s Announces 2013 Campaign to Benefit Local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital

(6/10/2013) Boulineau's IGA will kick off its first Children's Miracle Network Summer Balloon Campaign benefiting McLeod Children's Hospital on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Funds raised will support children treated locally at McLeod Loris and McLeod Seacoast.

McLeod Loris Seacoast Trains Teens to Be Safe Sitters

(6/4/2013) McLeod Loris Seacoast is offering a Safe Sitter course for teens interested in learning more about babysitting or to help increase the knowledge and skills of those who are currently babysitting.

Safe Sitter classes are designed for girls and boys ages 11 to 13.  Class participants learn safety and security precautions, such as what to do if a stranger comes to the door and when and how to call for help. They receive instruction about basic first aid, choking and CPR, ...
