McLeod is Constantly Seeking to Improve its Patient Care with Efforts That are Physician Led, Data-Driven and Evidence-Based

Recognized nationally for its quality initiatives and methodology, McLeod Health has a leading regional presence in northeastern South Carolina and southeastern North Carolina and a reputation for dedication to its patients and their families.

McLeod Health has been recognized numerous times for its outstanding work in quality care, best practices and clinical outcomes as well as its physicians' dedication to quality improvement. The efforts to improve quality and patient safety are physician led, data-driven and evidence-based. Because of this commitment by strong, active physician and staff participation, McLeod has received national recognition for quality including the 2010 American Hospital Association-McKesson Quest for Quality Prize. Awarded annually to one hospital in the country, McLeod is the first hospital in South Carolina to receive this prestigious honor since the inception of the national Quest for Quality Prize in 2002.

Additionally, McLeod was selected as one of only five hospitals in the country to lead and develop a model plan of improving healthcare nationwide through Pursuing Perfection: Raising the Bar for Health Care Performance in 2001. McLeod has also been featured prominently in a series of South Carolina Hospital Association videos promoting Evidence-based Care.

Recent recognition has included:

2012 McLeod Home Health has been named as one of the Top 500 Home Health agencies in the country. The only performance recognition of its kind in the home health industry, the 2011 Top 500 HomeCare Elite™ acknowledgment places McLeod Home Health in the top five percent of home health agencies in the U.S.

2012 McLeod Regional Medical Center is one of the top performing hospitals in the country for 2011, and has been recognized for its participation in a national project that resulted in saving lives and reducing healthcare spending by more than $4 billion. Over the past three years, 278 hospitals, including McLeod, participated in a national collaborative led by Premier Healthcare Alliance called QUEST®. As part of this initiative, these top performing hospitals saved an estimated 24,820 lives and reduced healthcare spending by nearly $4.5 billion.
