The McLeod Resource Center provides valuable health education material and resources for the community with an emphasis on pregnancy, labor and delivery, newborn care, and breastfeeding. A gift packet containing childbirth and parenting magazines, baby care booklets, and samples is given to each expectant mother that visits the center. We offer a free lending library of books and videos along with a wide variety of brochures. Staff is available to assist individuals with questions they may have and provide help with particular concerns or service referrals, and may also research and print various health topics for Individuals through the internet.

All of the maternity education classes, such as Childbirth Preparation, Breastfeeding, Babycare Postpartum, Maternity Tour, Big Brother/Big Sister, and Family & Friends CPR are scheduled out of the Resource Center.

Information on many local support groups can be found in the Resource Center, such as the Asthma Support Group, Diabetes Support Group, Down Syndrome Support Group, and Florence Alzheimer's Support Group. Local support groups also rely on the Resource Center to help with monthly mailings, photocopying, and other clerical jobs.

The Resource Center offers the one on one support of a sensitive Lactation Consultant, who is available by appointment to assist individuals with questions they may have and provide help with particular breastfeeding concerns. McLeod's highly skilled and qualified Lactation Consultants visit breastfeeding moms while in the hospital and also offer help and encouragement after returning home. The consultants stress the importance and benefits of breastfeeding to mother and child; therefore, the Resource Center stocks Medela maternity/nursing bras as well as Medela breast pumps and accessories. Hospital grade breast pumps are available for rent, and daily and occasional use pumps are available for purchase.
