Because a Woman's Life is An Incredible Journey We'll Be There Every Step of the Way.
McLeod continues to meet the unique health care needs of women in the Pee Dee through Women's Services, located in the McLeod Pavilion, which is conveniently connected to physician offices on one side and the medical center on the other. Here is what you can expect to find with McLeod Women's Services:
A Full Line of Services - Women's Services accommodates the entire birthing process from labor and delivery to recovery and postpartum care. Surgical services include a full range of gynecological surgery and services, and 24-hour in-house anesthesia coverage. The Breast Imaging Center provides leading facilities and equipment for mammography.
The Highest Level of Pediatric Care - For more than two decades, McLeod has been providing the highest level of pediatric care and technology in the region through the McLeod Children's Hospital, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Nearly 100 beds at McLeod are dedicated to serving the needs of children, and each year, more than 26,000 children received much needed care from McLeod Children's Hospital.
Support to New Moms - As the Regional Perinatal Center, McLeod provides consultative, outreach and support services to all obstetrical and newborn units in the region. In our commitment to the health and well-being of newborn babies, we provide support to new mothers through the Mom's Van and 24-hour hotline: 843-665-MOMS.
McLeod Lactation Services began in the mid-80's, with the vision to support mothers in their efforts towards breastfeeding, and to help them achieve the breastfeeding experience that they desired. The only one of its kind in the region, the McLeod Lactation Team consists of six highly skilled women who are certified specifically to meet the needs of breastfeeding mothers.
The McLeod Resource Center provides a wealth of information for expecting and new mothers seeking support and education on their parenting experience. The center rents hospital-grade Medela breast pumps, sells daily and occasional use pumps and related supplies, and also sells nursing apparel and essential materials for breastfeeding.
Many classes are scheduled out of the Resource Center, such as Childbirth Preparation, Breastfeeding, Baby Care Postpartum, Early Pregnancy Celebration, Maternity Tour, Big Brother/Big Sister, and Friends & Family CPR, as are many support groups.
