Injuries are part of any sport. When an injury occurs it is important to seek proper medical attention. Timely assessment and treatment of an athlete’s injury can be critical to that athlete’s safe return to sport.

The Certified Athletic Trainers of McLeod Sports Medicine Center, Dr. Timothy Dancy of McLeod Family/Sports Medicine Center and Dr. Patrick Denton of Pee Dee Orthopaedic Associates host free Saturday Injury Clinics. The clinic staff provides a complimentary medical assessment to evaluate the athlete’s injury and make sure the injury is properly treated. They also determine if the injury requires an x-ray, if a referral is needed for physical therapy or if the athlete needs to see an orthopedic surgeon or other specialist. The most common injuries seen include concussions, bruises, ankle sprains, and knee or shoulder injuries.

The Clinics begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 10:00 a.m. every Saturday from late August through mid November. The clinics are held at McLeod Family/Sports Medicine Center located at the McLeod Health and Fitness Center, 2437 Willwood Drive, Florence, SC and are open to area fall sports athletes who have sustained an injury during a recent competition. For additional information, call (843)-777-5139, Monday through Friday.
