Occupational Therapy is the art and science of helping people achieve independence with the day-to-day activities that are important to them. The department is staffed with 20 licensed Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants with a variety of clinical specialties. Inpatient and Outpatient services are initiated by a physician referral.
Available Services:
Outpatient Occupational Therapy services emphasize individual treatment programs that target retraining activities of daily living due to deficits in upper and lower extremity function, safety issues, motor planning, dexterity, and cognitive impairment.
Occupational Therapy Hand Center is a full-service outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation clinic staffed with Occupational Therapists who have expertise in hand and upper extremity therapy. (click here for more information)
Lymphedema Treatment Program McLeod currently offers the only lymphedema clinic in South Carolina with therapists who are certified in both lymphedema management and wound management. Outpatient services are available for patients with lymphedema, chronic swelling, venous insufficiency, and associated wounds. (click here for more information)
Work Recovery Center is the industry's resource for reducing overall costs of work related injuries by providing objective data in testing, treatment and job site services in order to maximize the employees' job performance. (click here for more information)
Inpatient Occupational Therapy provides the retraining of activities of daily living to hospitalized patients to speed their recovery and reduce post-operative complications. Adaptive equipment and coordination of care is established with rehabilitation centers, home health agencies, or outpatient therapy programs.
Occupational Therapy in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides evaluation and treatment of parental attachment and comfort in caring for their infant, development of age-appropriate posture/muscle tone/reflexes, age-appropriate developmental stimulation, efficient oral feeding, and environmental care giving modification to reduce stress and promote stability of the infant.
