The McLeod Foundation can accept both publicly traded securities and closely held securities. Giving appreciated stocks or bonds is a superb way to show support for our programs. With certain limitations, you can deduct the full fair market value of long-term appreciated securities--that is, securities you have owned for more than one year and that have increased in value. Thus, you can give away appreciated property and usually avoid the tax on the gain.
Gifts of securities are an ideal way for making larger commitments for both annual giving and supporting campaigns. For more information on this type of gift, please contact the McLeod Foundation at 843-777-2694 or click here to email us.
The McLeod Mobile Mammography Unit was purchased with gifts made to the McLeod Foundation. Many larger gifts were made through the gift of appreciated securities. The goal of this unit is to save lives by providing early detection of breast cancer. Click here to learn more about Mobile Mammography Unit.
