Eleventh Annual An Evening of Hope Cancer Benefit Dinner
10/21/10
The 11th Annual An Evening of Hope Cancer Benefit Dinner will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Country Club of SC in Florence SC.

The SIM Group (www.countryclubsc.com) has once again generously agreed to host and underwrite the dinner at their beautiful Country Club of South Carolina. We also have an excited group of cancer survivors who will be helping plan the dinner and silent auction.

In recent months, the McLeod Breast Health Center has received accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Our Center is the only one in this area of the state to receive this prestigious acknowledgement of the quality of care available to breast cancer patients in our region.

Dr. Joseph M. Pearson, with Pee Dee Surgical Group, was instrumental in achieving this accreditation and he will explain the benefits for our region.

The keynote address also promises to be both inspiring and entertaining as Jay Hewitt shares his message of triumph over adversity. Jay became an elite Ironman triathelete and three-time member of the U.S. National Team for Long Distance Triathlon despite major health complications. He has been featured in numerous national publications and television documentaries and his animated presentation helps his audience feel as if they too can succeed in spite of their personal obstacles.

We are currently seeking sponsors for this event. Sponsors provide a significant portion of the funds raised and are an integral part of this effort. These sponsorships also qualify you as a member of the McLeod Foundation’s Founders’ Society.

Hospitality Pecan Sale benefitting the Guest House at McLeod
11/01/10 - 12/23/10
The Hospitality Pecan Sale is a holiday fundraising event benefiting The Guest House at McLeod. Pecans are a traditional holiday favorite representing Southern Hospitality. You can share these pecan delectables while entertaining or as great gift ideas for your family, friends and business associates. Festival of Trees and A Day With Santa
11/08/10 - 11/20/10
Beautifully decorated Christmas trees, holiday wreaths, miniature trees, mantle pieces and centerpieces will transform the McLeod Medical Plaza into a magical winter wonderland during the 2010 Festival of Trees, a two-week long holiday event benefiting the McLeod Children’s Hospital.

The Festival of Trees is scheduled for Monday, November 8, through Friday, November 19, 2010. During these two weeks, the public is invited to view the decorative displays in The Parade of Trees. This two-week long silent auction takes place in the McLeod Medical Plaza, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, November 20, children can enjoy the memory of a lifetime at A Day with Santa. A Day with Santa is a fun-filled day for kids, and includes a holiday meal (either breakfast or lunch), a gift from Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus, arts and crafts, holiday character appearances and a photo with Santa. Breakfast is from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.; lunch is from 12:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 and are available by reservation only. Please call (843) 777 - 2694; space is limited.
The public is invited to attend from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. for holiday shopping, outdoor activities, food vendors including a barbeque tasting (lunch), and a chance to view and bid on the holiday decorations featured in the Parade of Trees (auction closes at 4:30 p.m.).

The Festival of Trees will raise funds to support many new and ongoing programs and services at McLeod Children’s Hospital. One of only four Children’s Hospitals in the state of South Carolina, McLeod Children’s Hospital provides the highest level of care available to more than 22,700 children and their families every year. Without the McLeod Children’s Hospital, its Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), children of northeastern South Carolina and southeastern North Carolina would have to travel away from the region, and their family members, to receive life-saving care. In an emergency situation, time can be the difference between life and death.
