McLeod Regional Medical Center (MRMC) is an innovative, non-profit, acute care, 453-bed facility with a Trauma Center and Level III NICU.  McLeod serves as the flagship hospital for a three-hospital system located in the northeastern region of South Carolina with a service area that includes 12 counties and a population of close to one million.

MRMC was recently awarded the 2007 Distinguished Hospital Award for Patient Safety by Healthgrades, reflecting our performance among the top five percent of hospitals in the nation for patient safety outcomes.  MRMC was also acknowledged by the American Hospital Association with the Quest for Quality Citation of Merit Award.  MRMC was one of five hospitals in the nation to receive this honor for leadership and innovation in quality, safety and commitment to patient care.  Additionally, MRMC was a finalist in ASHP's 2006 Award for Excellence in Medication-Use Safety.  McLeod was featured in the US News & World Report Best Hospitals Issue for its use of leading-edge technologies such as patient medication bar-coding and Computerized Physician Order Management (CPOM).  These improvements in technology reduce medication errors and allow the Pharmacy Department to focus on clinical services.
