This class is designed for students planning to pursue a healthcare career course of study in a technical school or college. Students will be trained in basic healthcare skills and introduced to careers in nursing, physician specialties, medical technology, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory therapy, and others. The class is taught at McLeod Regional Medical Center with an additional 2 1/2-hour lab required twice per week after school hours.
Criteria to participate:
You must be a 12th-grade student in Florence School District One.
You must have completed a prerequisite of 2 units in a lab science.
You must have completed Biology 1 and Chemistry 1. If you have not completed Phase 2 of a lab science, you must be enrolled in your Senior year.
Your acceptance into the program is made by your school. You must have a teacher recommendation and go through an interview process.
