Preferred Choice Benefits

McLeod Health has designed the Preferred Choice Benefits program to adjust and grow with employees depending on their individual benefit needs and resources.  Employees considered regular full-time (working 72-80 hours biweekly) or regular part-time (working 40-64 hours per pay period) are eligible for benefits, beginning on the first day of the month after the first day of employment.

Medical Plans

McLeod offers a health plan called the “Core Plan” that provides coverage competitive with other plans in the market at affordable rates.  The McLeod Core Plan is a traditional preferred provider organization (PPO) insurance plan that covers most types of medical care, including physician office visits, inpatient hospital stays, outpatient services, and psychiatric and substance abuse.  The Core Plan lets you receive care from the provider of your choice.  The highest level of coverage is available when you use services provided through the McLeod Network.

The medical coverage of the Core Medical Plan can be supplemented by adding: enhanced coverage, prescription drug coverage, and/or preventive and routine coverage.

Dental Plan

A comprehensive dental plan, including routine checkups, basic and major services (100% coverage for preventive services); orthodontic services for dependent children under age 19.

Income Protection Plan

Provides time away from work for vacation, holiday, injury or illness, as well as, income protection for employees with long-term illnesses.

Short-Term Disability

For short-term illnesses, loss of work for 14 to 180 days, eligible employees may choose to receive either 50 or 60 percent of pay.  McLeod Health completely subsidizes the cost of the 50 percent option for full time employees.

Long-Term Disability

For long-term illnesses, loss of work for more than 180 days, eligible employees may choose to receive either 50 or 60 percent of their pay.  McLeod Health completely subsidizes the cost of the 50 percent option for full time employees.

Group Term Life Insurance

Select from five coverage levels of group term life insurance: $10,000, or 1, 2, 3, or 4 times annual base salary.  Certain limits and restrictions apply.  McLeod Health fully subsidizes the one-time base pay option.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance

Coverage for the employee and their family from $10,000 to $300,000.  AD&D insurance provides a benefit in the event the employee or a covered family member loses a limb or eyesight or dies as a result of an accident.

Paid Time Off

Employees receive a bank of days for vacation, holidays, personal days or absence of three days or less for illness (employee or a family member’s).  First 5 years – 20 PTO days each year.  A prorated amount is accrued each pay period based on the number of hours worked.  As years of service increase more days are accrued, up to the maximum of 30 days per year.

Retirement Plan

401(k) retirement savings plan featuring flexibility and control of investment decisions, tax-deferred savings, company match, portability of retirement funds, compounding of investment returns, loans and hardship withdrawals.  Full vesting in three years.  Employees are eligible to participate on the first full day of the month after 30 days of employment.

Pharmacy Discount

Employees are immediately eligible for savings at the on-site McLeod Employee Pharmacy.  McLeod Health subsidizes the cost, so prescription medications and over-the-counter items can be purchased at discounted rates.

Child Care

Employees are immediately eligible for programs at the on-site McLeod Child Development Center.  Services for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years are available.  Fees may be payroll deducted.  Special tax saving features are available through the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account.

Health & Fitness Center

The 100,000-square-foot facility features health and fitness programs for every member of the family.  Special membership rates are available for McLeod Health employees and immediate family members.
